Dipping back into the rich world of Monster Hunter, we're going further back than World (where I just beat Shara Ishvalda) to dig up the tusked toad - the tetsucabra!
A rather straight forward but ultimately fun monster to design for, I do worry that ol' tetsucabra here might be a bit overloaded in regards to his abilities. His leaping shockwave is based off of the bulette's leap ability while the basics of its scoop rock was based off the sphinx colossus's create rocks ability. I gave it an attack with the rock as it felt like a fitting addition for Pathfinder but I made sure to include its ability to shatter the rock in a spray of stony shards!
Pathfinder 1e Version:
I was kinda excited for building the 2e version of tetsucabra and knew what I wanted to give it before I began - namely, the stone wall reaction. I gave the stone the parry trait as well for it to try to ward off blows with it. I'm probably gonna take some of the stuff I did hear and apply it to my stat blocks for kulu-ya-ku. I changed the sapping spittle from fatigued to slowed as I couldn't find an ability that only temporarily inflicted fatigue and I didn't want to dole out fatigue so readily at the tetsucabra's CR. It was fun writing up the sidebar for this thing - I really love that the stones it digs up take on the properties of its environment.

ENCOUNTERS
Rumble in the Mines: Strange ruts and gouges have been appearing in a mine that threaten to destabilize the operation. Worries for personnel and profit alike, the owners of the mine hire the heroes to investigate the source of these strange diggings. Diving deep into the earth and traversing winding tunnels and chasms, the party discovers a tetsucabra within a cavern, ready to defend its nest made of precious metals or other minerals dug up by the mining crew. If the heroes are able to defeat the tetsucabra or at least fully drive it off, the grateful miners allow them to take their pick of the precious metals that the tetsucabra dug up.
Pet Rock: A sculptor recently purchased a sizable chunk of marble that a farmer found out in the edge of his fields without realizing that this was a tetsucabra’s favorite rock. Now, the enraged toad is coming for its beloved stone and wreaking havoc as it searches for it. The heroes can defeat the beast or simply return its lost rock, which pacifies the tetsucabra that then happily hops away.
