Welcome to Monster Monday! This creature was initially inspired by the idea for a dullahan that came to be in a place where equestrianism and heavy armor wasn't as common. I ended up settling for a sort of Meso-American theme for this creature though this creature could easily be worked into other settings. The art was provided by a close friend of mine, which why I wanted to feature this monster first!
Here's the Pathfinder 1st edition version of the creature (and the link):
And here's the Pathfinder 2nd edition version of the creature (and the link):
To go along with the 2nd edition version, I included a new weapon for it:
I struggled a little bit with the 2nd edition version and it ended up being more similar to the 2e version of the dullahan than I really wanted. I ultimately decided to simplify its head fetish ability, and wanted to include its war dance, which is partially inspired by the Maori haka. There's a lot of fear-based abilities in the headhunter's kit, so creatures with resistance or immunity to fear might be this thing's kryptonite.
Well, this is the first real post for this blog, so please let me know what you think! What do you like, what don't you like, and what can I improve!
Have a Monstrous Monday!
