Sometimes when I'm running low on monster ideas, I'll go on a number of different websites and look up art for monsters. When I find a monster that I think could make a cool encounter or that inspires, I'll save it to a folder and eventually get around to making a monster of it. This one I found a while back that I really liked was work done by Donna Vu who was, in turn, inspired by Monster Hunter.
Insects are always neat creatures, even in real life, and combining that with another creature is a concept I fell in love with.

Blue's D&D 5e Version:
Amusingly, Blue and I developed stat blocks for this creature separately, without consulting each other. So there might be some larger differences than usual, but I hope you like all of them. Anyway, the first time I tested this out, it didn't fare so well. I had to go completely back to the drawing board but it ended up faring much better in my second test. As always, please let me know what you think.
Have a Monstrous Monday!
