Monster Monday - Boomshroom

Coming back with another original monster, this was a fun little simple idea for a creature that I enjoyed designing. Featuring the art of the talented Daniel Larios, check out the fiery fungi - the boomshroom!

The design for the boomshroom was fairly straightforward but enjoyable. They can start at range and make use of their spore puff or charge right into the fray to use their spore cloud instead. When in the thick of foes, detonating the spore clouds helps them recoup some of the health they lost. It's fun tactics to use even if the healing isn't entirely enough to preserve it.

Pathfinder 1e Version:

The 2e version was equally straight forward and ended up being a fairly direct translation of the abilities it held in 1e. I thought about working some more abilities into it but was honestly content with where it ended up.

Pathfinder 2e Version:

ENCOUNTERS

Fired Up: Somehow, a boomshroom found its way into a book and scroll store and is in danger of lighting the place ablaze whether it intends to or not. It is fascinated by the kindling, but the heroes have a chance to talk it out of doing so and may be able to lead it elsewhere. However, to lure the boomshroom out of the smorgasbord of burnable materials will require significant persuasion or the hints of a greater blaze that can be held elsewhere.

Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight: What began as a series of unusual forest fires quickly grew into a potential tragedy as the culprits, a band of boomshrooms, have descended upon the small town. Seeking to add the wooden homes to their glorious conflagration, the boomshrooms must be stopped before they can light the entire town ablaze. The heroes are forced to confront the boomshrooms in burning, collapsing homes, and even after they defeat them, they must help save the town from burning down.
