While I'm awaiting art for some original monsters, I'm going to be posting some older monsters I've statted out drawn from other sources. Here's yet another one from Monster Hunter, the cutest mudpuppy - the barroth!
I will admit, I'm not entirely set on the size we chose for the barroth as I felt he was a better fit as Large. However, Blue convinced me that barroth was a better fit as Huge. I also ended up changing the barroth from a magical beast to an animal and had to adjust it appropriately. It was fun figuring out its abilities and how to translate them into Pathfinder.
Pathfinder 1e Version:
I still haven't figured out how to bold the words in the actual description though its something I'll continue to work on. I was torn between giving it the 'Entrapping Mud' or just giving it 'Push' on its headbutt as they are somewhat opposite of each other. I ended up going with entrapping mud as it can still use its Athletics skill to Push.

Blue's D&D 5e Version (https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/XSVlrnPq):
ENCOUNTER HOOKS
Killdozer: Fallen debris has cut off a prominent river, limiting the water flowing to a basin. With its own mudhole dried up, a barroth has taken up residence in the lake of a nearby settlement, menacing any that come near it. They reach out to a band of adventurers to lure the barroth away and clear the blockage – a pair of tasks that can be completed in one fell swoop by leading the barroth on a chase to go crashing through the impromptu dam.
Crash Course: A caravan is making a trek through a desert and is hiring guards out of their fear of possible marauding hordes. However, that worry proves to be secondary when instead they come across a barroth that mistakes the caravan as strange creatures intruding upon its territory. The barroth threatens to destroy the wagons and their cargo unless the heroes can stop or otherwise distract the ornery monster. For added importance to this task, the caravans could be carrying necessary aid for a nearby town or community.
Have a Monstrous Monday!
