Finally downloaded Iceborne a while back and I've really been enjoying it. While I've seen some hate on the big ol' moose, I liked the banbaro and its ability to hurl boulders and giant snowballs at people. So check out everybody's (or at least my) favorite moose-dino, the banbaro!
I definitely wanted to give it the ability to throw rocks, like giants could. Given that the banbaro shows up in a multitude of environments and the rocks that it throws have different effects depending where it shows up, I decided to keep it as basic damage. Of course, GMs can make it any type of damage that they want, but I kept it simple for the base design. Combat-wise, it has a pretty decent set-up. It likely charges into the combat before using its next attack to perform an Awesome Blow to knock foes back and charge them again. In some cases, that might be too intelligent for the banbaro, so I wouldn't use that strategy too much.
Pathfinder 1e Version:
Any monster that doesn't have spells is usually pretty straight forward to convert into second edition, and the banbaro was no exception. The powerful charge ability was based off of the same ability as the minotaur. I also wanted an ability based on the idea of throwing a boulder almost as large as it with its antlers, which is where the throw boulder idea came from. Given the size of the object thrown, having it be an area effect that requires a Reflex save seemed like a better idea than an attack roll.

ENCOUNTER HOOKS
Have You Herd the News?: A recent cataclysm caused a storm giant’s heard of banbaro to scatter from their usual paddock. Even while largely domesticated, the hulking beasts present a threat to nearby settlements as they devour crops and bumble through town. Additionally, any aftershocks from the cataclysm might prompt them to stampede, which could wipe out an entire village. Simply slaying the typically docile beasts is likely to incur the ire of their storm giant owner who is trying to wrangle other members of the herd.
Wander Over Yonder: A wandering banbaro has stirred up the monsters of the new habitat it has entered, driving some of them closer to civilized lands. Until the banbaro is slain or driven it off, its very presence disrupts the surrounding ecosystem. Altruistic heroes seeking to drive the banbaro back to its original home may discover that it was originally forced out by an apex predator that was threatening it there, forcing them to contend with another threat.
Its fun to do some nice, simple creatures every now and then. Have a Monstrous Monday!
