Bonus Beast - Odogaron

Updated: Aug 15, 2021

Normally I wait for Monday to posts monsters, or at least a holiday, but I have a question that goes along with this post. It's gonna be a little bit briefer than normal, so that we can get to this idea I've had. Once again drawing from Monster Hunter, here's a fun but straightforward monster, the Big Red Dog - the odogaron!

Pathfinder 1e Version:

Pathfinder 2e Version:

Blue's D&D 5e:

ENCOUNTERS

The Big Dread Dog: A fortress ruled by giants has managed to ‘domesticate’ an odogaron as much as one can be. They keep it well fed, which keeps it somewhat calm, but the odogaron becomes immediately agitated by new scents intruding upon its domain. Upon catching a whiff of the heroes, it begins stalking them in an attempt to find their presence – and possibly get an extra helping of dinner. While naturally violent, a shrewd character may be able to bribe it with food to get by it without trouble.

Redrum: There have been rumors of an extraordinarily aggressive odogaron prowling in the area that has been growing unusually bold. It’s eating even more than is typical for an odogaron though rumor is that it isn’t eating the prey that it kills and just seems to be dragging it away. The trails that the odogaron leaves behind lead to an underground cave system where the odogaron has stuffed a cavern with grisly remains. The odogaron violently defends its gory home – and its pregnant mate.

I'm considering the idea of starting a Discord server focused on Monster Monday and the stuff I've done with it. I'm certain there's more than enough Discord servers dedicated to Pathfinder and D&D out there, but I want this one to be dedicated to making monsters, discussing monsters, and how to use them in campaigns in stuff. Maybe even set up channels in the server to test out monsters and stuff like that. Please let me know if that's something you would be interested in and I'll work on setting it up!
